How the notification area icon monitors health status
You can view the notification area icon to see the worst health condition among all managed storage systems.
System health monitoring
The health of all managed systems is determined by the worst health condition among all managed storage systems. This status is displayed using the notification area icon, which represents all managed storage systems. For example, if the worst problem among all the managed systems is an Error event in one system, that error is indicated by the notification area icon. You can disable or enable the monitoring process.
The icon indicates the health condition by changes in icon appearance, by balloon notification messages, and by tooltip messages.
How the monitoring process works
You can use the application to provide the list of managed systems for the process to monitor. The process monitors only the managed storage systems in the list.
The monitoring process receives simple network management protocol (SNMP) information from the managed storage systems and looks for predefined conditions. This process notifies the application when these conditions occur. When the application receives these notifications, it updates the icon, the Systems window, and the Dashboard window.
Note: When you initially install and launch the application, the notification area icon is in the Warning state (). This is because no storage systems are set to be managed yet.
